Gwerdek 8m Solar Electric Tour
“Gwerdek” is an 8-metre, 12-passenger solar-electric tour vessel designed and built for Kakadu Billabong Safari Camp. Delivered in 2024, the project was commissioned by an Indigenous corporation and developed over a two-year period, reflecting the complexity of grant-based funding, supply chain establishment, and proof-of-concept requirements. Despite these challenges, the vessel was delivered in line with the agreed specification and to a high standard of workmanship.
The design incorporates many of the same features later seen in Mimi Pearl, including CFD-validated hull performance, lightweight construction, and custom aluminium extrusions. A standout feature is the integration of local Indigenous artwork, laser-cut directly into the aluminium bulwarks—a low-maintenance and culturally meaningful solution well suited to remote operation. The result is a robust, efficient vessel tailored to its environment, with durability and cultural resonance built in from the start.
