Mimi Pearl is a solar-electric passenger vessel designed for low-impact operation in shallow, sensitive waterways. While much of the design was developed at the desk using CFD and digital tools, it was grounded in first-hand site visits, conversations with local operators, and direct observation of conditions—including strong tidal races and 10-metre broom tides. The vessel was carefully planned to suit the actual operating environment, not just theoretical assumptions.
CFD was used early to refine the hull for low wash and efficient operation at modest speeds. The vessel is built for reliability in remote locations, with simple systems and robust construction that allow for low-maintenance operation and minimal support infrastructure. Mimi Pearl is well suited to eco-tourism and commercial use in regions where service access is limited and downtime is not an option.
